Hi Oppo!

With my semi-recent dashcm purchase last month, IO’m looking for an editor for combining clips when needed.

I’m looking for a free editor is it would be all I need. I have Openshot now which seems to work great, except it does odd things to the aspect ratio of my exported videos despite the fact my settings are correct...?

I’m running Linux on my laptop and Win10 on my desktop, so hoping I can find one that runs on both platforms. Windows Movie Maker isn’t available for download anymore, sadly!

Thanks for any suggestions! :)

https://www.lwks.com/ lightworks I’ve heard good things about

and here’s a Movie Maker 2.6 installer that will work on Vista/7/8/10

I’ve used light works the finished product is great. The user interface and terminology for the tools takes a lot of getting used to.

If you easily get frustrated trying to figure out where things are, it is not the tool for you. But that aside the results are great.

I was in the same boat but ended up finding adobe elements on sale for 50 bucks. It really is worth it as I have found all kinds of use for both the photo shop and video editor. Good luck.

Shotcut works on both Windows and Linux. I use it and it’s pretty powerful for a free program. Downsides are that it’s a bit confusing and there’s not much documantation. You’re left to figure it out on your own.
